REQUIREMENTS / WORK EXPERIENCE

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Reporting to the Operations and Maintenance Manager, the Water Plant Manager supervises all facets of water operations and maintenance for our Cokenergy facility by effectively planning, organizing, and directing all phases of the water treatment process.
- Accountable for maintaining water quality specifications that are suitable for running a combined coke and energy plant generating electricity and steam that is used in the steel making process.
- Accountable for maintaining water plant production for make-up water to boiler system.
- Perform water sampling; test, analyze, report, monitor, adjust and maintain chemical levels in the different water systems of the plant (Boiler, Closed Loop, Cooling Tower Water, etc.).
- Maintain, monitor, and inspect chemical storage, chemical feed, and control equipment for all chemicals on site including the North Lake facility.
- Maintain all on-line analyzers and perform calibrations whenever needed (pH, Conductivity, Hardness, Chlorine, Silica and Sodium analyzers).
- Operate and maintain the water treatment for water filtration, cooling tower, condensate and feedwater systems, and water plant equipment.
- Utilize MS and web-based applications for periodic tracking, trending, and reporting key metrics for water treatment performance.
- Practice strong safety practices when handling or working with chemicals, installing and/or repairing instruments, or when locking out various components of the system for preventative maintenance and repairs.
- Be able to maintain close contact with chemical suppliers along with the Cleveland Cliffs facility to keep Cokenergy running efficiently and effectively.

Position Summary
The EH&S Specialist provides compliance assistance with all plant health safety and environmental programs. This entry to mid-level EH&S Specialist will work closely with plant personnel and the EH&S Director to ensure excellent environment, health and safety performance and full compliance with requirements.
Education and Skills
- Safety as a core value, must have a proactive energetic attitude.
- Bachelor’s degree in environmental, health and safety discipline or equivalent combination of education and directly related experience.
- Minimum 1-5 years of environmental and/or health and safety experience in an industrial environment.
- If stronger in one of the EHS skill sets, must be willing to cross-train in other functions.
- Excellent communication skills with ability to process viewpoints from all in group.

Job Responsibilities
- Coordinate the implementation and continuous improvement of Primary Energy EH&S Programs
- Coordinate compliance with all safety and environmental regulations & laws (OSHA, IDEM, Federal, State & Local Laws)
- Acquire EH&S Training and Certifications necessary to progress in job capabilities / responsibilities
- Schedules, Tracks and Conducts EH&S Training for plant personnel and contractor site orientation
- Coordinate Plant Emergency Response and Disaster Preparedness Program including periodical evacuation drills
- Coordinate Industrial Hygiene programs
- Coordinate annual medial surveillance and hearing conservation programs
- Coordinate and manage SDS records
- Schedule, maintain, facilitate completion and close out environmental health and safety tasks in the company’s Compliance Management System (CMS)
- Report incidents, conduct incident investigations and timely follow through on corrective action items until completion
- Assist with environmental compliance programs such as RCRA/DOT, SPCC, Title V and SARA
- Maintain proactive and positive liaison role with operators, contractors, host site safety representative and emergency responders

- Conduct audits of contractor health as safety programs to ensure contractor compliance with safety regulations and plant policies
- Review and understand industrial host health and safety programs and ensure the Company’s programs equal to or exceed host requirements
